Vanishing: GROUP SHOW

Galerie Martine Aboucaya presents Vanishing... a group exhibition held in collaboration with Galerie Untilthen as well as with the generosity of the Centro Galego de Arte Contemporánea (CGAC) in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

Each of the works presented represents their individual interpretation and collective sense on the reoccurring themes of loss and disappearance, both of which often preoccupies contemporary creation. Through a variety of media (including poetry, sculpture, painting, video, photography, installations, chemical reactions, spoken word, transcription, translation) the artists explore the frontiers between that which is present and that which is (perhaps) no longer.

Standing between time and space, swaying between the visible and the invisible, full and empty, fragility and solidity, durability and ephemeral...this exposition questions the memory of both the individual and the collective as well as the role of the idea of absence on the construction of the representation.
